Missions

News from the Missions/Outreach Committee

The mission emphasis for May is the Lydia Patterson Institute in El Paso. We have contributed to their building fund drives and scholarship programs in the past so many of you will remember that this is the Methodist sponsored 7th through 12th grade private school founded in 1913 by Methodist women's leader Lydia Patterson. The schools founding principle was to provide a top notch education for children from very poor neighborhoods in El Paso and Juarez, and this continues to this day. LPI operates solely on private and church based donations. Students participate in the operation and maintenance of the institute to earn their scholarships and they have an extremely high rate of graduation and college/university attendance. Please join me in continuing to support this wonderful ministry.

Blessings,

Some of our global mission support has included direct contributions to several missionaries, the United Methodist Committee on Relief, Society of St. Andrew Hunger Relief, Health and First Aid Kits to immigrant detainees and various clothing drives.

In addition to our numerous missions supported as a church, our Christ Crew youth group is a very service oriented youth group. They do various fundraising such as a bake sale to raise money for the UMCOR flood buckets to help those affected by flooding in Sonora, TX and in the Carolinas after Hurricane Florence. They continue to help with rebuilding efforts from Hurricane Harvey by doing 1-2 mission trips a year to help rebuild houses in the affected areas. Their summer mission trip for 2019 is to Eagle Pass to put together bunk beds made by the youth and mission committee. They will also do a 2 day mini VBS for the local children's center while in Eagle Pass.

Prayer Request

We believe in the power of prayer!

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”    -Philippians 4:6-7
