November 2021 Issue

Present & Pliable.....

Revive, Renew, & Reach

No one asked me to come up with a new mission statement for the church but the idea of “Revive, Renew, & Reach” seems to sum it up for me in this season of our church. Over the next few months, you will be hearing a lot more about how these words will help to identify who we are as children of God, the church, our mission, and in the Kingdom of God.
When I arrived here, I heard over and over the need for a vitality and energy within the church.
I believe vitality and energy begins within us. God still moves. We need to look no further than
a mirror, and the question is, “what stirs your soul?”
These are just a few ideas which will continue our personal spiritual growth:

  • Writing in a journal & prayer
  • Meditating & deep breathing
  • Reading scripture or other inspiration materials
  • Studying in our library
  • Attending worship services (mid-week prayer on November 3, hint - hint)
  • Conscious (intentional) acts of forgiveness
  • Finding a safe place and person to talk with
  • Engaging in nature walks, art, or music

John Wesley encouraged small groups (class meetings) to bond together in prayer and in spiritual practices. I’m not suggesting that you do these all at once, but which of these could you engage?
If you do not already have a prayer partner, please consider the opportunity to get one.
If you do not know how to do that, let’s talk.

Sometimes we try to do a lot of good, only to miss the great. Let us be on the lookout for where God is calling us into the great Kingdom of God. The idea to revive is to restore from an unused state.
I believe God wants to restore people to an original state in God’s grace. In revival, we seek to reestablish a connection that may seem faded. In today’s world, people sometimes look at revival as earthshaking movement. But isn’t it also the small movement of God, a still and small voice, sitting in our living room in prayer? Isn’t revival knowing the angels are nearby.

I pray that our revival calls our congregation into response, a response of prayer and intentionality.
A response of “yes” in generosity and action. I have witnessed many of you, in small acts, living out your faith. I believe we are witnessing the small spark of the future fire in the Holy Spirit. We are coming back St. Paul’s – it will take time, we know. Thankfully, we worship a patient and loving God. In this season, we pray – Revive us, Lord!

Peace, Pastor Glenn

Morning Prayer

Do you need a mid-week refresher or pick-me-up? Could you use some guidance and direction for spending time in silence with God on your own? Would praying, sharing, and being with a group of faithful friends help you in your weekly life with God? Then join Pastor Glenn along with others from our St. Paul's family for monthly mid-week prayer on first Wednesday (Nov 3) at 9am in the Sanctuary. Each session will last no more than an hour and you will walk away re-charged and ready to face the second half of your week.

Peace, Glenn

NOVEMBER ALTAR RAIL MISSION EMPHASIS

The mission emphasis for the month of November is the Hill Country Veteran’s Center here in Kerrville at 411 Meadowview Lane. This center opened in April of 2013, with the Food Bank opening in March of 2014.
They provide services to all branches of military veterans, including homeless vets, those with PTSD and those who are employed. Because the center is operated by military veterans, the support system is uniquely tailored to meet the needs of vets and their families. They offer regular support groups for men and women transitioning home after deployments and active duty, as well as their spouses and children. Volunteers are also on hand to lend support to family members left behind after their loved ones leave home on assignment.
Thank you, in advance, for supporting this ministry and its outreach in this community.

Hi Everyone!

First, I want to send out a HUGE thank you to Skipper Lister for stepping up so I can attend my brother’s wedding in Colorado. Be patient with him! He had a lot of information thrown at him in a very short period of time, but he did excellent on October 31st. I will not be here on November 7th and Skipper will be running the whole show. I will be back the following week on the 14th. Again, thank you Skipper! You have been a true blessing to come in out of your comfort zone to help me out.

Thank you everyone for your patience with the website restore! I know not everything is back to 100% but I am working on it. Please let me know if you see anything I have missed.

The website page for all St. Paul's Service Members for members and family of members should be up and running when you get this newsletter. It will only be visible until Veterans Day, November 11, 2021. This page is divided out by branch of service and have a picture with a brief biography of each member.

Have a great week and see you November 14th!!!

Be Blessed!

Online Giving!

This is a fast, easy and secure way to make contributions to the church. The website is partnered with PayPal to provide a secure checkout process and protect your information.
The link to the Giving Online form is found on the Home page of our website. We are charged a small processing fee which you have the option to help us cover with your contribution. This is completely optional, however, please be aware if you choose not to help cover the processing fee, the amount that the church receives your contribution less the amount of the processing fees.
Example: a $20 contribution has a $0.91 processing fee. If you choose not to cover this, then what the church will receive is $19.09.
